What are the Ladera Dolphins all about?
The Ladera Dolphins summer league swim team is focused on fun, personal improvement, participation and friendly competiton.
The team has special traditions, weekly meets and fun excursions outside the pool. Our goal is for team members to enjoy a positive experience with competitive swimming.
We are a totally self-supporting enterprise. Fees cover coaches' salaries, league fees, equipment, supplies, team member trophies, swim caps, the awards dinner, and other miscellaneous expenses.
Who we are.
The team is comprised of three groups: the coaches, the swimmers, and the parents. The coaches make swimming fun for the swimmers, while teaching them about the fundamentals, mechanics, and sportsmanship of swimming.
The swimmers' job is to do their best to learn and make being part of the team enjoyable for themselves and their peers.
Parents are a vital part of the team! They support and encourage the swimmers, provide transportation to team functions, and provide most of the man power/woman power at those functions. Parents make being a part of the team possible, and without their involvment we would not have a team. The more involved they are, the better the team will be. Assisting at the meets is extremely easy and also required. There is a job and a place for everyone. Parents are required to volunteer for specific number of jobs when they register to ensure our meets run smoothly, thus making it a very enjoyable summer for everyone.
Children who are members of Ladera Rec and are between 5 and 18 years old make up our team.
Children 6 and under must be able to swim a one lap while children 7 and above must be able to swim two laps.
Safe Sport Parent Training The LRD strongly suggests all parents participate in Safe Sport Training. Parents can find a copy of the Parent Toolkit in the LRD lifeguard office or can visit the parent toolkit here. Safe sport training is used by national organizations across all spectrum of sports.
Regardless of where we place in the meets, we count our greatest achievement as having a team of kids who have a wonderful time. We place high value on our kids learning team spirit as well as developing personal swimming skills. We encourage swimmers with all levels of ability with a goal of learning a love of the sport. Our 'Dolphins' truly look forward to the swim team experience every summer. If you would like more information on the team, please call the office at 650-854-3242 or email us.
